Last Moments In Boiling Sun

As it was my last day on the island today i got up at 7am and went to the beach. Even before noon the sun was so hot it was hard to stay there. It was 36 degrees in shade!
I then took a speedboat to mainland leaving Tubtim Beach behind.
Once in Ban Phne, I had a quick look at the market where you can buy all sorts of dried seafood. Miam, I'd try it all!

Seafood, even prehistoric one!

On Sunday I went to a beach seafood restaurant for dinner. I fancied mangda crab which comes straight from prehistoric science books! Just have look below.
Bananas: not bigger than your small finger and so sweet and tasty.

Koh Samed / paradise

Just have a look how beautiful the island is. The only thing that could be missing is a coral reef where I could go scuba diving.

Koh Samed, a piece of paradise

It is my third day on a small island Koh Samed.
It is very popular with wealthy Bangkokians and very busy on the weekends.
I took a bus from Bangkok and then a speed boat straight to the island. I am staying in Tubtim Resort and you can see photos of my bungalow below.
The weather is very hot and the sea doesn't bring any refreshment as the water is at 29 degrees...
The food is as usual amazing, you can get Thai massage on the beach, there are quite a few bars and night clubs.
I'll stay here until Wednesday when I fly back home to Paris.
Interesting fact about the island: there is no water here so it is brought over from mainland by boats everyday!

Travelling light I ain't..

My big backpack is over 25kg now after some shopping in Bangkok, a small one I carry in front is well over 10kg.. Do the math. But I'm going home on 26th April so won't be carrying it around for much longer.
Just need to get it on the island Koh Samet where I finish my big trip.

Singapore Flashback: crocodile & more food

Singapore has some great places to eat, almost around every corner! Restaurants, food courts and such.

Thai Food - me love!

Same same but different ;)
Just walking around the city, picking from a food vendor whatever takes my fancy, especially all the sea food.

Bangkok, Bangkok!

I arrived in Bangkok two days ago and after a check into my hotel I went straight for a Thai massage. I was looking forward to it for so long! Then I met my business school friend Toon and Decha. We had some great food in a traditional Thai restaurant. But I'll tell you about the food in a separate post.
Yesterday I went Siam Paragon, a luxurious shopping centre home to a big cinema complex. I saw Titanic, the original James Cameron film but in 4D! It is 3D + plus special effects such as water, wind, fragrance and movement as the whole audience floor is moving! So when Titanic was first flooded my water so were we! It was a truly great experience and great fun. Needless to say that I cried my eyes out 😥

Last night I went out with my dear friend Daniel who took me to some best cocktail bars in the city including Vertigo Bar at the top of Banyan Tree Hotel with a spectacular view of Bangkok by night.
But a very special accent to our evening was a traditional Thai club for locals. It was so much fun and so different from our notion of night club that I will post a video of it when I get a chance.
Yet again I went to bed in the early morning...

Singapore Architecture

Singapore as Hong Kong has some stunning, mostly modern architecture.

Singapore Temples 2

Indian Muslim temple:

Temples in Singapore

Apart from the shopping centres, temples are probably the biggest attraction in Singapore. Because the population of the city-state is made from Indians, Chinese and Malaysians, there are temples for all religions.
Here is an example of a Hindu temple.

Singapore By Night

I arrived in Singapore only for two nights but I think that I have seen and done a lot.
There will be several posts on this amazing city-state but let me show you first Singapore by night.
My amazing hosts Astrid (who I went to business school in London with) and her husband Pierre took me to Ku De Ta Bar in notorious Marina Bay Sands Hotel, on the very top. The view is breathtaking!

Marina Bay Sands Hotel, the Ku De Ta Bar is on the very top flat part of the building, beside a very long swimming pool (!!)
(The funny white building is the Science Museum)

With Pierre and Astrid in the hotel lobby
